Why the Gold Coast?

The Gold Coast Attracts International Investors:

The Gold Coast is well known for its magnificent long white beaches, perfect all year-round climate, internationally renowned theme parks, tourist attractions, Star Casino and luxury hotels. It has long been a popular tourist destination & many international investors primarily from Asia have purchased luxury high-rise apartments or waterfront homes as investments or to live in and call Australia home.

Companies based in Asia have been responsible for the financing and development of many major projects we have on the Gold Coast and are welcomed by local industry including: golf courses, residential subdivisions and high-rise developments.

As of 2023, foreign investors from China alone have spent $3.4 billion on Australian properties in the past financial year (2022-23) which is a rise of $1 billion from the previous financial year.

Australia is a safe, stable country that welcomes international investment and migration:

Australia is a politically-stable, safe and friendly country with a resilient and robust economy, AAA international credit rating and favourable inward exchange rates that welcomes international investment and migration.

Recognising that Australia has important fundamental investment principles in place, calculated and experienced international investors from Asia (predominantly China, Hong Kong SAR, Japan and Singapore) have been responsible for the purchase of many of our luxury high-rise apartments, stunning waterfront homes, large commercial developments, luxury hotels and development sites on the Gold Coast since the mid-1970’s and are still a major source of international investment capitalising on the strong, buoyant Gold Coast market today.

Investor interest has increased from other nations such as South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Outside of Asia, New Zealand investors own many properties on the Gold Coast, in Queensland and across Australia.

The Gold Coast is growing… Capital appreciation:

The Gold Coast is the fastest growing area in Australia per head of population. Australians are increasingly moving away from the larger, colder and congested cities of Melbourne and Sydney in search of warmer climates, better quality of life and to escape long commutes in traffic.

Subsequent demand for quality high-rise apartments, waterfront homes and homes on larger allotments suitable for re-development into apartments has left the Gold Coast with a major under-supply of these valuable residences.

Due to this increased demand & under-supply, property values on the Gold Coast are appreciating in value more annually than other Australian major cities.

In a statement from the research director of CoreLogic (Australia’s pre-eminent and respected real estate publication), it was said that Australians were still flocking to the Gold Coast from other parts of the country. Specifically that “[s]trong internal migration into these areas (Gold Coast & Brisbane) is likely to be a key factor supporting housing demand and housing values in these areas.”

The Gold Coast boasts higher rental returns for International investors:

The Gold Coast’s rental vacancy rate is under 1% - properties are largely under-supplied which ensures maximum rental returns on investment properties for international investors. This is particularly relevant in the face of increased demand & has already attracted international attention.

Gold Coast to jointly host 2032 Summer Olympics:

The Gold Coast will jointly host the 2032 Olympics with Brisbane.

The IOC (International Olympic Committee) awarded the 2032 Olympic games to Brisbane and the Gold Coast due to their ability to fund the necessary infrastructure required to hold such a prestigious sporting event. The IOC also considered that Australia is a political stable and safe country for the rest of the world to visit during the games. The importance for the Gold Coast and Brisbane is that the valuable infrastructure required to be completed to enable to games to be a wonderful success will benefit both cities for many years after the completion of the games.

New highways, Stadiums, Rail links and upgraded international airports will be only a few of the important infrastructure projects that will benefit both the Gold Coast and Brisbane for many years after the completion of the Olympics. This will attract strong international investment from astute Asian investors as property values always remain high for several years after such a prestigious event.

High quality schooling for International students:

For investors and their families, the Gold Coast boasts an outstanding choice of quality private schools offering a very high standard of education for international students - including: Somerset College, All Saints Anglican School, AB Paterson College, Aquinas College, St. Hilda’s School and TSS. These schools are attended by international students and several offer internationally-renowned programs such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Among these schools are St Hilda’s all-girls school, and TSS, or “The Southport School” boys college which offer a very high standard of education and are situated on the river in Southport. Both schools offer excellent boarding facilities for international students and well-trusted local companies such as Study Match Pty. Ltd. play an important role on the Gold Coast in placing international students with qualified families on the Gold Coast. Students live with a family whilst completing their studies and living in Australia. This has been a great success story for many international students who want to live with a family instead of attending a boarding school.

Higher Education for International students:

In addition, the Gold Coast is home to several high-quality universities and is just a public transport trip or brief highway drive away from others in Brisbane and further north. Our universities are home to many international students and likewise have great support for students beginning study on the Gold Coast - for example there are student-driven programs such as Griffith University’s “Mates Program” where international and local students are encouraged to mingle and there is a great focus on improving quality of life of international students.
